That was *exactly* what I was thinking, even before seeing the comment
But maybe someone will tell us he/she used to preffer 1980 (or 1960) until last year
The real sign that someone has become a fanatic is that he completely loses his sense of humor about some important facet of his life. When humor goes, it means he's lost his perspective.

2003 for me. Better animation, coolor plot developments, and just all around cooler in my opinion.
Yeah, the 2003 serie is surely better in the drawing : the computers help a lot...
But the story is really better (more original) in the '80 serie. Some episode of the new serie are just boring.
What I would really like is if they remade the 80s with the technics of the 2003, THAT would be great!
However it must be nothing else than another daytime dream

I would not say that any one was better than the other two. They all have their strong and weak points:
1960:
Strengths
80s:
Strengths:
2003:
Strengths:
My eyes still become wet when I see or hear the opening or closing credits to the 1960s series. I guess I would need to call that one my favorite.
1960:
Strengths
- Manga style humor throughout
- It was my first exposure to Atom; hence, it defines him
- Atom is depicted as living with a family
- B&W
- Restored eps have very poor video
- Only 36 of nearly 100 dubbed eps have been restored
80s:
Strengths:
- Uranium is very cute
- Color
- Atom is depicted as living with a family
- Manga-syle humor only intermittent
- Cruel ommissions in the English dubbed version
2003:
Strengths:
- Main characters are very cute
- Includes several laugh aloud episodes
- Being current, it uses technology both real & imaginary that is also current
- Light-ray robot has a happy ending
- No Manga-style humor
- Stupid and unjustified name changes for dubbed characters
- Atom and Uranium are wards of the State. No parents, no family life, and even Ochanomizu is often absent from the home
- Stupid KWB & its choice of editing and dubbed voices
My eyes still become wet when I see or hear the opening or closing credits to the 1960s series. I guess I would need to call that one my favorite.
