Thank you!!
Heya Ms April,
I can see how the helmets might seem mysterious at first, but allow me to shed some light, if I may.The beauty of the symbolism of the helmets lies in it's simplicity. It's not quite as abstract as you might think.
In a literal sense, helmets represent safety. In a metaphorical sense, they represent an appreciation and respect for intelligence and wisdom, because they keep your head and brain protected.Traditionally, glasses or beards, or other devices have been used as a symbol of wisdom in visual media, such as manga and comics. Helmets are just a new and personal take on the idea.
Replacing the traditional iconic symbolism of glasses with helmets, gives a stronger and bolder visual connection between 'being safe' and 'being smart' than just glasses would.
The genius in Mama Novi's entry, is that it reminds us what can happen when we forget to wear our figurative or literal helmets. If you look at her entry again, the picture tells the whole story. Unfortunately, Walrus learned it the hard way, but luckily Astro, as always, is willing to offer a helping hand...or in this case, a helping helmet
I hope this unlocks the mystery of the helmets, and you're able to view and appreciate Novi's entry with new eyes. After all, just like in Novi's picture, handing out a helmet to help someone, is exactly the kind of thing Astro would do. I can almost see Astro starring in a video advocating safety by promoting helmets already.
And just think, all I had him giving out is some poutine, and he forgot to strap on his helmet in mine too, lol.
Thanks for reading. Hope this helps.
Nice work again Mama Novi, see you next round.
Cheers.
