Re: World's first Astro Boy Convention
Appreciate the compliment, but it was exactly as advertised. The deep dive was into Astro Boy, the series, not the character. I did briefly mention the 60s series at the start (you can't NOT mention it), but why would I focus on that or go beyond the 80s series when that is what the guest starred i...

Re: World's first Astro Boy Convention
Some feedback, in case you attempt similar in the future: Your talk on the English side on Astro Boy 80s was really interesting, but it wasn't the advertised ' Tezuka Talk: A Deep Dive into Astro Boy '. I was expecting an in depth on Astro Boy the character, and you didn't mention anything beyond th...

Re: U.S. 1980s series: Documentary and other news
Why not try a Digital and DVD release through Madman Entertainment? they have released the 1980s series locally, and released documentaries based off popular comics/cartoons before (i.e. Tintin and I).

The two Blu-Ray sets just arrived, and I have only browsed the episodes so far. But I'm rather disappointed in the video quality in motion, as there are constant small flecks (black or white) throughout the episodes, which I assume are dust and dirt from the original film masters. It seems like they...

I'm late to the party, but noting how the English audio is intact, does this mean that the set has episodes one and two dubbed in their entirety? I remember Jay Roth saying that the dub cast did record audio for the first two episodes, and he never knew why they were cut into one episode. If the tw...

I'm not too worried for big titles such as the Black Jack OVAs or Astro Boy, especially if they're on Blu-ray. The support from Blu-ray.com members alone would be substantial. And all those people who've completely converted to HD and don't even want to buy DVDs anymore (like me, Tezuka stuff is my...

Still, in the case of Astro Boy and the new release of the Black Jack OVAs, I find it safer to wait for Anime Sols. Especially since they're supposed to do the Black Jack OVAs very soon, if they end up being Blu-ray, that will be extremely telling about their future intentions for Astro Boy. Anime ...

The figures in the Astro Boy (2003) box sets released in Japan are great, I got the Blue Knight a few years ago, when it was still for sale. The first box set with Astro Boy figure is still available from Amazon (Japan), and I'm surprised the figure looks so different to the image they provide. I sk...
